🔎 How to mount E1GSL with SONOFF ZBMINIL2

While the ZBMINIL2 can be used with a traditional switch, using it with the E1GSL enables a more affordable and streamlined smart switch setup. Additionally, the E1GSL simplifies the installation process by helping to keep wiring neat and organized, making your smart home upgrade easier and cleaner.

What is the E1GSL

The new SONOFF product, the smart wall switch enclosure E1GSL, transforms the SONOFF ZBMINIL2 DIY module into a fully functional smart switch. This product consists of two main parts:

1. Front frame
2. Adapter with a slot for the ZBMINIL2 module and connection contacts

 

On the back of the E1GSL, there is a slot to insert the ZBMINIL2 module along with a clear description of the connection terminals:

• L – Live wire

• Lout – Up output

• S1 and S2 – Switch wires

How to install

WARNING: Before starting the installation be sure of following all the safety rules of any electrical installation. If you don't feel comfortable please ask for profissional help. Make sure all wires are connected correctly.

As you can see, the wiring diagram between the ZNMINIL2 and the E1GSL is essentially the same, with one important difference. When using the E1GSL, it is no longer necessary to connect two wires from the S1 and S2 terminals of the module directly to the switch. Instead, the S1 and S2 contacts on the module are connected internally to the E1GSL terminals. This greatly simplifies the installation process.

Once the ZBMINIL2 module is inserted into the E1GSL, the S1 and S2 terminals are immediately connected, so there’s no need to worry about wiring them separately. 

Once the module is inserted, proceed with connecting the ZBMINIL2 wires. The installation is the same as a standard ZBMINIL2 retrofit switch setup, with one key difference: when using the E1GSL, you don’t need to connect wires from the module’s S1 and S2 terminals to the switch. The E1GSL automatically handles these connections.

WARNING: Although it is not necessary to connect wires from the module to the E1GSL, once the contacts are inserted into the MINIL2 module, you MUST tighten the S1 and S2 screws after fitting to ensure a secure connection. All the terminals must be tightened before closing the installation.

Finally, simply place the wires inside the box and secure it to the wall using the screws provided in the package.

The next step is to tighten the screws and fix it to the wall.

The end result is a smart switch with an elegant and functional design.
