๐Ÿ”Ž How to mount ERBS with SONOFF MINI-RBS

Introduction

The SONOFF Roller Shutter Wall Switch Enclosure (ERBS) module transforms the MINI-RBS into a fully functional smart switch, expanding your installation options. While the MINI-RBS can be used with a traditional switch, as demonstrated here, using it with the ERBS enables a more affordable and streamlined smart switch setup. Additionally, the ERBS simplifies the installation process by helping to keep wiring neat and organized, making your smart home upgrade easier and cleaner.

This guide will focus specifically on how to use the ERBS. For detailed information on installing the SONOFF MINI, please refer to the dedicated installation article.

What You´ll need?

The new SONOFF product, the ERBS, transforms the SONOFF MINI-RBS smart module into a fully functional smart switch. This product consists of two main parts:

  1. Front frame
  2. Adapter with a slot for the MINI-RBS module and connection contacts

On the back of the ERBS, there is a slot to insert the MINI-RBS module along with a clear description of the connection terminals:

  • N – Neutral wire

  • L – Live wire

  • Lout1 – Up output

  • Lout2 – Down output

  • S1 and S2 – Switch wires

WARNING:

  • Before starting the installation be sure of following all the safety rules of any electrical installation.
  • If you don't feel comfortable please ask for profissional help.
  • Make sure all wires are connected correctly.

As you can see, the wiring diagram between the MINI-RBS and the ERBS is essentially the same, with one important difference. When using the ERBS, it is no longer necessary to connect two wires from the S1 and S2 terminals of the module directly to the switch. Instead, the S1 and S2 contacts on the module are connected internally to the ERBS terminals. This greatly simplifies the installation process.

In this image, you can see the terminals inside the ERBS where the module is inserted. This applies to the live wire as well as the S1 and S2 terminals.

Once the module is inserted into the ERBS, the S1 and S2 terminals are immediately connected, so there’s no need to worry about wiring them separately. Internally, they are linked directly to the buttons on the ERBS.

Once the module is inserted, proceed with connecting the MINI-RBS wires. The installation is the same as a standard MINI-RBS retrofit switch setup, with one key difference: when using the ERBS, you don’t need to connect wires from the module’s S1 and S2 terminals to the switch. The ERBS automatically handles these connections.

WARNING:

Although it is not necessary to connect wires from the module to the ERBS, once the contacts are inserted into the MINI-RBS module, you MUST tighten the S1 and S2 screws after fitting to ensure a secure connection.

The same principle MUST be applied for the "L" terminal.

All the terminals must be tightened before closing the installation.

Finally, simply place the wires inside the box and secure it to the wall using the screws provided in the package.

The end result is a smart switch with an elegant and functional design.

The SONOFF ERBS offers a practical and efficient solution to transform the MINI-RBS module into a fully functional smart switch, simplifying the installation process and reducing wiring complexity. By integrating the S1 and S2 connections internally, it eliminates common wiring challenges, making smart home upgrades more accessible and user-friendly. Whether you’re a professional installer or a DIY enthusiast, the ERBS enhances your SONOFF setup with greater convenience and reliability.
