With Matter support available on Google Home, connecting SONOFF smart devices like the MINIR4M WiFi Smart Switch is quick and straightforward. These Wi-Fi-based Matter devices require no cloud connection or third-party apps—just local control, fast response, and Google Assistant voice access.

This guide walks you through pairing SONOFF MINIR4M with Google Home, so you can control your lighting with your voice, automate scenes, and enjoy a unified smart home.

Preparation

Before you start, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Matter-certified device with a QR code or setup code
  • A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
  • A smartphone or tablet running:

Android 8.1+ with Google Play Services for Matter, or

iOS 16.5+ with the Google Home app

  • The latest Google Home app (Android or iOS)
  • A Google Home Hub device has been added to your Google Home app (for remote control and automation), such as: Google Home, Google Home Mini, Nest Hub (2nd Gen), Nest Mini, Google TV (Check the compatible hub here)

Setup Guide

Step 1: Power on Your Matter Device

  1. Install and wire the SONOFF MINIR4M properly
  2. Power it on — the LED should blink rapidly to indicate pairing mode. If not, press and hold the button for 5–10 seconds to reset it

Step 2: Add Device via Google Home App

  1. Open the Google Home app
  2. Tap the “+” button → Add device → New device
  3. Choose the home where you want to add the device
  4. Tap “Matter-enabled device” when prompted
  5. Scan the Matter QR code on the device

Google will now discover the device and walk you through setup:

  • Assign a name and room
  • Finalize connecting

Step 3: Control & Automate

  • The SONOFF MINIR4M will now appear as a controllable device in the Google Home app

You can:

  • Tap to toggle it on/off
  • Control via Google Assistant voice commands
    e.g., “Hey Google, turn on the bedroom light”
  • Add it to automations or routines (e.g., sunset-based actions)

Google Home can't find the device?

  • Make sure the switch is in pairing mode (LED blinking rapidly)
  • Ensure your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
  • Restart your router and Google Home app if needed

QR code not working?

  • Find the QR code in the product Quick Guide, or use the numeric setup code (you can find it in the App - Device Settings).
  • Ensure camera permissions are enabled for Google Home app

Already paired with another platform?

  • Matter devices can only be connected to one platform at a time
  • Hold the physical button for 10+ seconds to reset pairing and try again

Voice control not working?

  • Confirm that a Google Home or Nest device is set up as your voice assistant
  • Check your Google account permissions and network connection

A: No, for basic local control, only your phone and the Home app are needed.
