Effective Communication Distance Verification
Install the device in the desired place, then press the Pairing button on the device. The LED indicator flashes twice means the device and the device under the same Zigbee network (the router device or hub) are in the effective communication distance.
Detection zone
The sensor has a detection range of approximately 6 meters and a detection angle of around 110 degrees.
FAQ
1. What is SNZB-03P, and what does it do?
The SNZB-03P is a low-power Zigbee 3.0 motion sensor that uses infrared technology to detect motion in real time. It can be used for smart automation (like turning lights on/off) and home security (such as triggering alarms or cameras when motion is detected).
2. Can SNZB-03P function without Wi-Fi?
Yes. As a Zigbee device, SNZB-03P supports local scene execution, meaning automation can still run even if your Wi-Fi goes offline, as long as your Zigbee hub and devices remain powered.
3. What is the motion detection range and angle?
It typically detects motion about 6 meters and has a horizontal field of view of around 110°, ideal for hallways, corridors, staircases, and entrances.
4. How fast does it respond to motion?
It supports rapid detection, triggering linked actions in as fast as 5 seconds after detecting motion or sensing vacancy.
5. How long does the battery last?
Powered by a CR2477 coin cell battery, SNZB-03P offers over 3 years of battery life, depending on usage frequency and environment.
6. Can it be used for home security?
Absolutely. It can:
- Trigger cameras to record upon detecting movement
- Activate sound alarms via Zigbee gateway
- Send real-time notifications to your mobile phone
This makes it an excellent motion-based intrusion alert sensor.
7. Can I mount it on a ceiling or wall?
Yes. The sensor is designed for flexible mounting and can be easily installed on walls, ceilings, or in corners using adhesive or screws.
Troubleshooting
1. The sensor is not detected during pairing.
Make sure your Zigbee hub is in pairing mode.
Press and hold the pairing/reset button until the LED indicator flashes.
Ensure the battery is inserted correctly and has power.
Try bringing the sensor closer to the hub during pairing.
2. Motion is not being detected.
Ensure the sensor is not facing direct sunlight or heat sources, which may affect infrared performance.
Check that the sensor is within the motion range (6 meters) and correctly aligned.
Verify the sensor is powered on and properly mounted.
- If there are materials like glass, acrylic, or walls between the sensor and the moving object, detection may fail. These materials can block infrared radiation, which is essential for motion sensing.
- The sensor may not detect motion if the target is not moving or moving too quickly across the sensing area. For accurate detection, moderate and consistent movement is ideal.
- If the ambient temperature is too close to the temperature of the human body, the sensor may have difficulty distinguishing motion due to low infrared contrast. Performance may be reduced in such conditions.
3. Sensor reacts too slowly or not at all.
Check for Zigbee network delays or weak signal. Consider adding a Zigbee router to improve connectivity.
Make sure the cooldown period (after motion is detected) isn’t delaying further detection — adjust via platform settings if applicable.
4. Battery drains quickly.
Avoid frequent triggering in high-traffic areas — adjust motion sensitivity or cooldown time.
Use a genuine CR2477 battery from a reliable brand.
Confirm no firmware issues or misconfigurations are causing excessive polling.
5. No notification or scene trigger.
Ensure automations or scenes are correctly set in your smart home platform.
Check that the sensor is online and responsive in your Zigbee coordinator UI.
Confirm that permissions and notification settings are enabled on your mobile app.
