Product Overview
Introduction
Product Name |
SONOFF Zigbee Door/Window Sensor |
Product Model |
SNZB-04P is a Zigbee 3.0 protocol-based door/window sensor equipped with a tamper-proof feature. It senses the open and close status of doors and windows by detecting the proximity of the transmitter and magnet. This sensor seamlessly interacts with other smart devices to easily create various scenarios, such as automatically turning on lights when a door is opened, triggering audible and visual alarms in case of unauthorized entry, and sending app notifications to keep you informed.
Highlights
- Smart Monitoring for Doors & Windows
The lights turn on instantly when a door opens. Unauthorized entry? Get both sound and light alarms plus instant app notifications—so you’re always in control.
- Tamper Alert for Extra Security
Built with tamper detection—if anyone tries to mess with the sensor, you’ll get an immediate alert on your phone. Smart protection, zero compromises.
- 5-Year Battery Life, Worry-Free
Powered by a high-capacity CR2477 battery, this sensor delivers over 5 years of reliable performance—no need for constant replacements.
- Local Smart Scene, Works Even Offline
Your Zigbee automations keep running smoothly even if the internet drops. As long as your devices are powered, scene linkage stays active locally.
Applications
- Intrusion Detection Alarm
When doors or windows are opened illegally, the Zigbee Door/Window Sensor triggers the security system (such as cameras) to sound an alarm and notify the user in real time.
- Display Case Monitoring
Detects whether display cases have been opened, helping to secure high-value merchandise.
- Medicine/Equipment Cabinet Monitoring
Detects unauthorized access to medicine or equipment cabinets and sends timely alerts.
- Mailbox Open/Close Detection
Installed on outdoor mailboxes to notify users when new mail is delivered.
- Pet Door Monitoring
Monitors whether pets are entering or exiting normally and links with cameras to observe their activity.

Cautions
Make sure the installation gap is less than 20mm when the door or the window is closed.
Effective Communication Distance Verification
Install the device in the desired place, then press the Pairing button on the device. The LED indicator flashes twice, which means the device and the device under the same Zigbee network (the router device or hub) are in the effective communication distance.
FAQ
1. How does the sensor detect the door or window status?
The sensor detects the relative distance between the main sensor and the magnet. When they are separated or brought close together, it changes the state between "open" and "closed".
2. What is the tamper-proof feature?
The SNZB-04P has a tamper alarm that triggers if someone tries to remove or tamper with the device, sending an alert to the app or triggering automation actions.
3. What battery does it use, and how long does it last?
It uses a CR2477 coin cell battery, and under normal use, the battery life is typically up to 5 years.
4. Can I receive mobile notifications when the door or window is opened?
Yes. If connected to a supported app and hub, the sensor can send push notifications whenever a door/window is opened or closed.
5. Is it suitable for outdoor use?
SNZB-04P is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to rain or direct sunlight may damage the device.
Troubleshooting
1. The sensor is not being discovered by the Zigbee hub.
Ensure the CR2477 battery is correctly installed and not depleted.
Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds until the LED indicator blinks to enter pairing mode.
Make sure the hub is in pairing mode.
Bring the sensor closer to the hub during pairing.
If it still fails, reset the sensor (press and hold the button for 10 seconds) and try again.
2. No response when opening/closing the door.
Ensure the sensor and magnet are aligned properly (less than 20mm apart when closed).
Check if the battery is low or depleted.
Refresh the device status from your app or reboot your Zigbee hub.
Make sure the device is still connected to the hub (it may need to be re-paired if it lost connection).
3. False tamper alerts are being triggered.
Ensure the tamper switch on the back of the sensor is making full contact with the mounting surface.
Use double-sided tape or screws to ensure the device is firmly mounted.
Avoid placing it on uneven or flexible surfaces.
4. The battery drains too quickly.
Check if the device is frequently losing Zigbee connection, which may cause high power usage.
Make sure your Zigbee network has adequate signal strength—consider adding a Zigbee router/repeater.
Avoid frequent re-pairing or unnecessary automation triggers
